"You cannot perceive what you are not the vibration of." - Bashar
Perhaps one of the greatest challenges and keys to fulfillment is the principle “like only speaks to like.” The idea is simple: In order to achieve or experience something that we want, we have to be a vibrational match to that thing.
Instead of thinking about manifestation in terms of trying to bring something to us, this principle guides us to understand that manifestation is about making ourselves more like what we want to have, experience, or interact with. This principle applies equally to life circumstances, relationships, well being, and our spirituality.
With this idea in mind, we can engage our practice with greater clarity: "I am not trying to change the outside or draw something to me, I am rooted in the understanding that I am only trying to change myself. When I do that effectively, the result I want will become inevitable."
Given that this principle is something that is happening all the time, we don't have to make it work, we just have to make it work for us instead of against us.
We can do this using any and all of the following:
- Items of focus such as symbols, names, icons, pictures, objects, ritual implements - When we place our attention on something a strand of our energy connects to that thing and then returns to us, creating a feedback loop. Through this automatic feedback loop of energy, we entrain to the frequency of what we focus on.
- Thoughts, ideas, beliefs, feelings, and sensations - Every thought has a frequency. If we focus on a thought we are investing our energy in it. Our emotions and our body respond instantaneously. When it comes to thoughts and feelings you don't prefer, remember, it is not helpful to try and resist, push away, or suppress them. Resistance is a form of adding energy to something. The best practice is to cultivate an ability to allow unwanted thoughts and feelings to move through us. We can do this through practices that cultivate inner balance and clarity of awareness such as Conscious Relaxation and Observation of Mind. These practices will eventually slow thoughts down and create more space, allowing us to invest our energy more consciously into what we prefer.
- Congruency (alignment of thoughts, words, and deeds) - Think of your energy as water flowing through a hose. Incongruity in thought, word, and deed is like poking holes in that hose. When we are not in alignment our energy is dissipated and cannot hold the integrity necessary to make energy work for us. When we make ourselves congruent with what we want we maximize the power of our intent. See downloads section for a visual reference.
- Physical environment - Our environment impacts our frequency / state of being. We can use this to our detriment or our benefit.
- Meditation practices - All meditation practices are designed to change your energy / state of being to some degree. The primary way that we do this is through Conscious Relaxation, consciously directing the focus of our awareness, and often times, employing our imaginative faculties. These focused periods of practice can have a ripple affect into your daily life, especially when combined with Imbibing.
- Physical and energetic movement practices - The importance of practices such as Yoga and Qigong cannot be overstated. The body is a tuning fork. The more impedance to the flow of energy there is in our body, the more impedance there will be in our mind. All exercise is helpful, but any practice that combines the synchronicity of movement and breathing with a focus on postures that are designed to open or build the energetic channels within us is particularly beneficial.
